Sea of Galilee

The Sea of Galilee is a very popular excursion- and holiday destination and it is definitely worth visit.
Besides many sights, it offers beautiful campsites and beaches, during May-September it is great for swimming, surfing and fishing.
A visit to the famous excavation site of the Capernaum village, with the House of Peter should be on the same trip as the Mount of Beatitudes. If you would like to go on a „Jesus boat“ on the lake, you can do this at Ginnosar Village.
Especially worth a visit is the city Tiberias (for example the Rahel’s grave), which among other things invites you to stroll along the waterfront promenade. If you want to stay longer, you can also take a room in a hotel, hostel or a kibbutz. The latter can also be found in other parts of the lake, e.g. in En Gev.
If the typical tourist destinations do not fits you and you prefer to walk, the mountain Arbel (national park) is highly recommended. There are well signposted and interesting hiking trails with climbing elements, beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee and a special highlight, a mountain fortress with exciting caves.
The drive time from Gan Ner to the lake is about 45 minutes.
