As part of our production trip for the upcoming episodes of Focus on Jerusalem, we traveled to northern Israel in April 2025 – in particular to the northern city of Safed.

But as picturesque as the alleyways and the famous artists’ quarter are: The reality is sobering. The city seemed deserted. Many stores were closed and only a few visitors were to be seen. The temperatures were unusually low, but what the traders told us weighed heavier: the tourists were still missing – and still are.

In addition to filming for our report on Safed, this trip was also a small production meeting.
