\nDie letzte Schmetterlingswanderung fand vor f\u00fcnf Jahren statt und war bei Weitem nicht so gigantisch wie dieses Jahr. Denn Januar und Februar gab viel mehr Niederschlag, nicht nur in Israel, auch in den W\u00fcstengebieten von Saudi-Arabien und Kuwait. Durch das \u00fcppige Nahrungsangebot konnten viele Raupen \u00fcberleben.\n

The butterfly species is the Vanessa Cardui butterfly. They travel in groups over distances of several thousand kilometers a year. In the interview, ecologist Dotan Rotem explains: “…as with migratory birds, the migration behavior of butterflies is genetically determined, but can change due to environmental factors such as food supply and climate. The butterflies are now moving further north and west and will soon reach Cyprus, Spain and other parts of Europe.” In order to survive and preserve the species, so many small butterflies make the long journey to find food. <\/p>\nEs ist immer wieder ein Wunder zu sehen, wie so kleine und auf den ersten Blick zerbrechliche Kreaturen einen so schweren und anstrengenden Weg hinter sich legen k\u00f6nnen, trotz des nassen und auch kalten Wetters.\n
