Commemoration: Yom HaShoah in Ramat Zvi

from Benjamin
Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, is the Israeli day of remembrance for the victims of the Shoah, the genocide of around six million Jews.
It started yesterday evening and ends today at sunset.
This week we commemorated Yom HaShoah. As every year, the event took place in our village community center. It must be said that participation has increased noticeably since October 7, 2023.
Memories of Holocaust survivors are shown and letters and records of murdered Jews are read aloud. This remembrance is particularly important these days. It helps us to remember the dead, to remain vigilant, to be grateful and not to take freedom for granted.
It moves us very much. Precisely because we live here as Germans, we are particularly aware of history. At the same time, we can also write a new history here, a history of friendship and deep cohesion.
