Once, Gilboa Passion was an oasis for guests and a place of encounter. Here, one could experience Israel, Jewish culture, life, and faith up close. We brought together people who would otherwise have never met. In light of the war and the sharply rising antisemitism, it becomes clear that our actions today are more important than ever.
We lived a vision; it was holistic. Our kitchen was a melting pot of culinary delights, a fusion of Oriental, Russian, and German cuisine shaped by the diversity of our family roots. We were grateful and a bit proud to source a variety of foods directly from our own garden. We grew salads, eggs, meat, olives, and many herbs with love and care. We kept sheep, goats, chickens, and quails and emphasised humane and high-quality feeding. In the cold season, we also made sausages and meat products.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we had to close our doors and put our vision on hold. But we are not giving up. We are bringing Israel to the people.
Support us. We rely on your support to be able to carry out our work in these challenging times.

“We owe you an unforgettably stimulating and at the same time relaxing time in Israel. … If you want to get to know Israel better, it is best to share life with the Funk family for a while and experience the varied daily life. Enjoying the fruits of the land, delighting in Alex’s cooking and baking skills, …, delighting in the children and animals, hearing a lot from Benjamin about history, politics and everyday life during the trips through the country, and experiencing God’s presence, … .
“We would do it again! It was a wonderful time. Very loving and appreciative atmosphere. From breakfast to the trips, everything with much attention to details. Everything just fit. More than recommendable!”
“Life at Funks in Israel is familiar, cozy and exciting! The multi-cultural family life makes every day extraordinary. I especially liked the good conversations and the great food. Very happy to come again!”
“I enjoyed my time with Alexandra and Benjamin very much. I especially liked the hospitality, the warm family nature of the family, and the closeness to everyday life. The excursions were super planned, and the destinations beautiful. The contrast between nature, ancient history, and modern life were fascinating. Benjamin has in-depth knowledge and gives exciting background information during the excursions. Most impressive for me were Jerusalem and the “three” seas. I was able to experience a lot, get a great insight into everyday life and relax.”
“The time at the Funks was very nice. The area around the Gilboa Mountains is great for short hiking trips that can be started from home. Beni and Alex’s assistance with travel tips and equipment for camping were very helpful.”
